I wonder why such simple and boring applications like those in my Facebook (or maybe yours too) draw much attention from users.

farmvilleI got at least two invitations a day inviting me to play Facebook applications. So I tried to see it in a different way: some applications like Farmville, Poker (now those ones aren’t as goofy as the others), Cafe Remodel and Pet Society require you to use real money to play better, even though you can always play without buying any extra tokens, chips, or coins. But you sure will play better if you buy. Is it another online money making ideas? Yap for sure! A lot of it!

Here are some hints to get you started. In order to create a Facebook application, you should know or need the following:

  • You should be well versed in PHP or some other programming language, such as Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, or Python, especially one that has a client library for Facebook API.
  • You need to have a basic understanding of the Internet, SSH, MySQL, and Unix
  • You need to be familiar with Web hosting fundamentals and have a place to host your application.

Some outline in http://wiki.developers.Facebook.com/index.php/Creating_Your_First_Application and http://www.virtualmarketingblog.com/how-to-make-Facebook-applications/ should give you good enough idea to get you going. They sure are a long list to do. But looking at how much interest Facebook applications are getting from the crowds, I’m sure they will all pay off.

Here are 4 more advantages you’ll get by making applications for Facebook:

  1. A January 2009 Compete.com study has ranked Facebook as the most used social network by worldwide monthly active users, followed by MySpace. According to comScore, Facebook is the leading social networking site based on monthly unique visitors, having overtaken main competitor MySpace in April 2008. ComScore reports that Facebook attracted 132.1 million unique visitors in June 2008, compared to MySpace, which attracted 117.6 million. More than 63 million active users, An average of 250,000 new registrations per day since January 2007, An average of 3% weekly growth since January 2007 and Active users doubling every 6 months. You’ll sure get the crowds.
  2. The Facebook iPhone website was launched August 2007 and as of July 2008 over 1.5 million people use it regularly. You can also make applications for iPhone and get paid! [read the article from us].
  3. Many large companies are paying top dollar to developers who know how to build Facebook applications. Just do a search on any of the major job search sites for ‘Facebook developer’ and you’ll see just how large the demand for developers is.
  4. Even the stupid goofy applications can earn a lot of cash!

Of course, you need to also consider some things below:

  1. You’ll compete with many application creators like you. Make sure you have something “more” in your application to attract users (though the stupidest application on earth still sells in Facebook, but we’re sure you want to earn more)
  2. It takes time. Creating Facebook application is not an easy money job, but you’ll earn way more than any other easy online money making ideas.

Just by seeing how much Facebook has taken over the society, we’re sure you’ll be a “big fish” in the business. Try it and figure it out. Good Luck!
